By HFF Trust
We work with sports organisations to facilitate and support the removal of junk food rewards for sporting achievement, and provide displays promoting healthy lifestyles, diabetes awareness and education at a number of Wellington sports facilities. We also support a community organisation called Tahi Fitness who deliver healthy lifestyle programmes to at risk populations. These programmes combine regular supervised physical activity sessions with weekly education sessions to facilitate healthy lifestyle improvements. We provide evidence-based type 2 diabetes prevention education sessions for these programmes
The HFF Trust is run by a passionate group of health professional volunteers. We are a registered charity formed in 2013 by a group of health professionals who share a concern about the number of overweight children being seen in clinical practice, and who are developing health problems such as type 2 diabetes as a result of their excess weight. Our vision is for all New Zealand children to live in an environment that enables and supports healthy eating and physical activity patterns. We aim to achieve this by raising awareness of the factors that are contributing to the increasing incidence of obesity and type 2 diabetes in New Zealand children, advocating for change in the current obesogenic environment, carrying out health promotion activities and supporting health initiatives that will contribute to a reducing obesity and type 2 diabetes in the future.
