The Healthy Future Families (HFF) Trust lead the Wellington Child Obesity & Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Network, which is a group of over 90 multi-disciplinary professionals who share our concerns, meeting twice a year to share ideas and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
The HFF Trust is run by a passionate group of health professional volunteers. We are a registered charity formed in 2013 by a group of health professionals who share a concern about the number of overweight children being seen in clinical practice, and who are developing health problems such as type 2 diabetes as a result of their excess weight. Our vision is for all New Zealand children to live in an environment that enables and supports healthy eating and physical activity patterns. We aim to achieve this by raising awareness of the factors that are contributing to the increasing incidence of obesity and type 2 diabetes in New Zealand children, advocating for change in the current obesogenic environment, carrying out health promotion activities and supporting health initiatives that will contribute to a reducing obesity and type 2 diabetes in the future.
